In the nearly 30 years since my retirement, I have mainly done three things. Firstly, I have edited a filmography of 1111 Morricone music films, including 436 original (FA) films and 675 related (FB, FC, FU) films. The website has released a total of 3705 web pages. Second, collected complete resources related to Morricone's works according to the 4th edition filmography , from music to movies, from subtitles to sheet music, from statistics to research, and finally established a Morricone reading resource library consisting of 6 area: A, B, C, D, E, and R. It basically includes the complete resources of original music by Morricone and 436 movies with embedded Chinese and English subtitles , as well as the basic resources of 675 other related movies ; Third, During the 15 year period from 2010 to 2025, the complete Chinese and English versions of the " Ennio Morricone Fans Handbook" were edited and published, including volumes 1, 2, 3, and Rare Volume, totaling 4 volumes. The Chinese version has a total of 4223 pages and 1.09 million words (while the English version has 4441 pages and 550000 words). All these resources are donated to nearly a hundred old friends who have long supported the website business. In order to demonstrate the value of these resources and maintain the financial balance of website operation. These "Handbooks" are also publicly available on our website's sales page and important online platforms at home and abroad ( such as Taobao, Amazon, eBay, etc.) to readers both domestically and internationally. Their footprint, apart from China, has spread to dozens of countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, India, Austria, Ireland, Hungary, Israel, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, and more. People are willing to spend tens of dollars (including postage) to buy these books, which shows that they are useful and also indicates that Morricone fans are indeed spread all over the world. Even though the sales volume is limited, for me, this is already something I can truly feel and a great comfort |
However, whether it is a gift or a sale, their temporal and spatial impact is limited. In order to ensure that these works can be widely circulated in the long run, shortly after the first volume of the Handbook was published as a paper book, on June 15, 2012, I sent an email to the China National Library introducing the book to them and hoping that they would collect it. They enthusiastically replied to me on the same day. After I sent the samples, they gave me the consent to collect and the collection reply document with the number ZL201291502 on July 6th ( please refer to this page for details) |

| (Simplified translation of the text above) Dear Mr. Han Wenguang, We have received the "Morricone Enthusiast Handbook" that you gifted us. Thank you for your concern and support for the National Library, with reference number ZL201291502 (Chinese Resource Group of National Library. July 6, 2012) |

In 2025, Full Volume of the electronic version of 《Ennio Morricone Fans Handbook》, which took me over 10 years of energy, including volumes 1, 2, 3, and "Rare volume" in Chinese and English, totaling 8 volumes, has finally been completed, fulfilling my wish to contribute one's strengthto of Morricone enthusiasts in China and around the world after retirement. (You can see a more detailed introduction in a list in the middle of this page), I am starting to consider donating them to the collection of the National Library, hoping that they can serve more readers and become a historical witness for long-term preservation. But it has been more than 10 years since the first collection, and the situation has changed a lot, and now it is only in electronic version. What is the current collection policy of the National Library of China? I repeatedly searched for their relevant documents with this question in mind. I saw their websites such as "Informal Publication Literature Collection" |
|
| and "Digital Copyright Donation" |
|
It can be seen that their policy is consistent, and they have also added documents related to digital versions. On April 28, 2026, I sent another email to the National Library and then uploaded a 521M electronic full volume resource of the "Ennio Morricone Fans Handbook" (4 volumes in Chinese and English, totaling 8 volumes) on Baidu Netdisk as their requested. After several email and WeChat exchanges, May 18th, 2026. I finally received the email they sent saying 'My department will also properly archive and preserve it as digital data' |
|
| (Simplified translation of the text above) (Sender: Copyright Management Group) Mr. Han: Hello! Thank you for your long-term enthusiastic attention, strong support, and active participation in the National Library. We express our deep gratitude and respect! After communication and verification between our department and the Chinese language editing department, it has been confirmed that the relevant materials you previously donated have been preserved in the collection, and the donation certificate has also been sent to you; Our department will also properly archive and preserve the digital version of your intended donation as digital materials. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your support once again |

I am very grateful to the leaders of the National Library and its "Copyright Management Team" for their strong support and hard work on this matter (these 8 volumes of e-books total 8664 pages, including 1.09 million words in the Chinese version and 540000 words in the English version, which requires a lot of effort even for general review). I also quickly replied to the email to express my sincere gratitude to them |

Copyright Management Group: Hello everyone
I am very pleased to have seen your email and I am very grateful for the extensive work and efforts you and the relevant departments have put in on this matter. Due to the total number of Chinese and English characters in these 8 e-books exceeding 2 million words, it must have taken a lot of your time and effort. I deeply appreciate this
At the age of 89, I am finally glad to know that you have properly archived and preserved it as digital data. Ennio Morricone is an outstanding musician recognized by the contemporary world. Due to my lifelong passion for music and respect for this master, editing these books has taken up most of my efforts and energy over the past 30 years of retirement. Its perspective and content are unique among many publications I know of around the world. I hope they can leave some historical traces for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, and your collection will elevate and spread them for a long time. Although it is insignificant in the long history of your vast collection of books. But it will prove from one perspective that cultural exchange, integration, and mutual learning between the Chinese people and people around the world are eternal
Thank you to the National Library for its significant historical contributions to the construction of the country and the inheritance of civilization over the years. If possible, please express my heartfelt gratitude and respect to the leaders of the National Library on my behalf. I wish the National Library a rapid development, prosperous career, and shining brightly in the long river of history under their leadership!

I think this kind of news should be reported and shared to everyone. In the futre, I will continue to work hard and contact more libraries at home and abroad to apply for collections. Once there is any new news, I will also report it to everyone again

Taking advantage of this opportunity, I found some articles and works that I have published over the years on the website of the National Library of China |

Seeing these results, I seem to have returned to the boiling era of working hard for my career three or four decades ago. Looking back at life, time flies like a shuttle. Seasons flow like a stream.. But day by day is also very long, especially during my tenure, I have to work until late at night almost every day. In the most difficult years, I could only sleep for five or six hours a day. It's not easy to find time to write something, and every word is written down by myself with a pen. I have never asked a secretary or someone else to write articles for me. But for the sake of communication and research, when I have some free time, I still force myself to write. Almost everyone has a lot of experience and new knowledge about the career they are engaged in. Perhaps it is insignificant, but leaving some historical experience, memory, and new understanding in words should be useful for future generations. So I suggest that friends who have the conditions and need to write something, please hurry up and write them down. Although you always have to leave this world in the end, these things will still stay and be passed down. This is also a comfort in life, right! |
