Review and comment

An underrated action movie

February 16, 2000 By AJ "AJ" (Delaware, USA)

This movie has been largely ignored by the general public. I suppose this may be partly due to the confusion about the title (it has been released as 'Desert Law', 'Law of the Desert' and 'Beyond Justice'). Nevertheless Beyond Justice is a fast-paced movie combining spectacular action, good acting and a plot, that is at least two steps above average for movies in this genre. The Maltin summary does not do this movie justice. The plot may have some twists in it, but it avoids the usual loose ends and I see no reason, why an action movie should have a completely predictable plot. The actors do a good job (Omar Sharif obviously enjoying himself as a conservative Arab Sheik and Rutger Hauer quite believable as a matter-of-fact mercenary) The camera work is downright spectacular, using the impressive landscape of the Sahara to great effect and the score is one of the best ever to be heard in action movies. On the whole this is a forgotten movie, that deserved a far better fate. (here)
Decent B Movie with Omar Sharif, September 21, 2003

This is a non-stop action adventure in which Carol Alt seeks out mercenary Rutger Hauer to retrive her kidnapped son from his arab grandfather (Omar Shariff). Explosive gunfire is everywher in this fast=paced feature combing spectacular action, superb acting, an intriguing plot, and breathtaking scenes shot in the Sahra desert.(Here)

A problem

There is no the movie in the catalogue of Morricone's office web site (From Discografia --> in order cronologico (Right side) --> Select years --> Drag the arrowhead to find the catalogue in the left side). We cannot find the movie in the 1991-2000 year
But many information shown that it is to be composed by Morricone:
1. A movie still In the start of the movie(00:04:35) shown: "Music Composed and Conducted by ENNIO MORRICONE"
2. The list of cast in IMDB shown : Original Music by Ennio Morricone
This is a ambivalent phenomena. We also need to explore its cause. If you have any opinion, please tell me by way of E-mail

About Jing

Our friend, Rodison C. Leonardo, was born in the Philippines, a native Filipino. You can also call him by his nickname Jing. He's 34 years old, a Roman Catholic. He holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering. There was once an occurrence in his life he wanted to enter Priesthood after his graduation in college. For some personal reasons, he didn't continue to pursue it. Until now it's very hard to admit that he's still a bachelor at his mature age. He only diverts his time to watch film or hear music after his work. He loves film and music. His real hobbies are to collect music in LPs and CDs, and also to collect films in VHS, VCD and DVD as well. He started to like Sir Ennio Morricone's music when he saw the film "The Mission" in 1995. He considered The Mission music 'very influential' to him. Seeking more of Sir Ennio's works, he joined in one of Morricone's prestige forums. There he met many friends in different nations who really loved to help those who were beginners of knowing Sir Ennio and his magnificent scores. He still makes contact to some of them through e-mail. Knowing friends who have one common goal, "to spread the music of Sir Ennio Morricone", is a very remarkable and tremendous experience for him. It's so great to know there's someone in the Philippines who really appreciate Maestro Ennio Morricone, truly the legend of film music.

Many happy to Jing and his big family
