Missing works on the Ennio Morricone official website -1
(Original text from here£©
Part 1: Track Ennio Morrison's official website for 8 years
I have been concerned (also known as tracking) Ennio Morricone official website (Hereinafter referred to as EMOW) for at least 8 years. Until July 17, 2015, it is still only published to 2008 on its FILM MUSIC (Hereinafter referred to as filmography), total 401 films
In 2016,It has been revised, there is a little gratifying phenomenon: First is to increase the works of 2009 and beyond (see the screenshot below in October 2016)

The second is to add three works:One is 1968 film "Gli intoccabili (Giuliano Montaldo) / Machine Gun McCain". It is numbered in our website as TB6801); One is 1972 film "iViva la muerte... tuya! ( Duccio Tessari) / Long Live ... Your Death! (TB7201); Third also is 1972 film "Il Ritorno di Clint il solitario (Alfonso Balcazar, George Martin) (TB7202). Plus 26 films in 2009-2016 , the total number is 427 films. ( 3 films of them, there are still some issues to be clarified, See the Follow-up problems at the bottom of this page)

The filmography of the EMOW finally have a little change after we look forward to seven or eight years . No matter how much, it is a progressing. We welcome this

However, this filmography, there are still many problems to be solved: Except for the ownership of the two 1961 short films (See here) and released year problem for 1 film (TV Movie)( See here)and many man-made wrong problems(See here), more important is the lack of many works in existing filmograpy of in the EMOW. Just like the three added new films mentioned earlier, there are at least dozens of films that belong to Ennio Morricone, but disappeared in the EMOW (If adding some other types of works, especially the cited works which appeared in the 1990's, its number may be several hundred. Of course, this problem is more complex, need a unified understanding, in order to concentrate on solving the main problem first, this type of works is not included in the scope of this article temporary)

Part 2: Analysis of EMOW's laws from the existing filmofraphy

First of all, we should see that, after 60 years of historical interpretation, Morricone's film music works are quite complex. Therefore, before combing these works, we need to have a clear definition that should be easy to operate. That is to say, we need to study first is which works should and must be included in the filmography of Ennio Morricone? This should of course be EMOW's power and responsibility, and its ideas and laws are the first thing we should figure out. However, after more than 8 years of practice and observation, I found that the EMOW is untouchable and isolated from fans. There seems to be no interest in listening to opinions from the fans for improvement work. It long ignored for the fan's of the contact email? For 8 years from 2009 to the present, I have sent many types of email (suggestions, forward my critical article released in "MAESTRO", requests to correct mistake of Morricone concert brochures edited by them, and so on) to it many times and want to get in touch,, but they did not have any reply. (See here) Not only that, in 2015, It also abruptly shut down its forums that unique could contact ordinary fans, even the forum administrators Mr. Caletka they hired were all don't know anything. Such a lot of problems naturally cause many fans dissatisfaction, and gradually lose everyone's admiration and trust to him, and the authority it deserves. So far, we have been unable to get in touch with this EMOW , do not know its organizational structure and operating rules, not sure whether our beloved maestro Ennio Morricone was really involved in the formulation of the filmography and know that it has many serious problems? This is indeed a reality that makes fans bitter and dissatisfied. Since the road is closed, we don't have to hang on this one tree. There is a proverb in China that "Draw a tiger after the model of a cat? the EMOW has, after all, published more than 400 film catalogues in its filmography for a long time, (For pure music part, not in our discussion range), except for obvious mistakes need to be corrected, in contrast to so many films, we can even "Draw a tiger after the model of a tiger? We can analyze the ideas of this person who is filmography producer (perhaps a collective), according to these existing filmography, summed up the general law they adopted, and then to study its existing problems.

Carefully study the EMOW of existing 427 films (including TV, the same below) and the resources we already have (At present we have 370 films of them, about 87%), we can divide them into 8 types (A1, A2, B, C1, C2, D, E, F). Their common features of vast majority of the films in EMOW are: Ennio Morricone's name is shown in the credits of the titles of a film (a few at the end of the film). Most in the name of the composer, a few In the name of a cooperative composer (.... and ....), theme, arranged (adaptation) , consultation (consulenza), etc. (Does not include Morricone only as a conductor, also not include Morricone only as an author of cited music in the end credits)

The credits in the films should be the most primitive and reliable written information for every film, with legal responsibility and effectiveness? That's final., known to the world, does not allow any tampering.(Of course, due to various reasons, there are some exceptions, for example, the following E and F two types. But it must be negotiated through the parties, to discuss, and even to resort to the law,to get a unified conclusion in order to take effect.)Such a legally effective feature,it can and should be used as our most fundamental and most important basis and principles in order to determine whether the film (music) belongs to Ennio Morricone

According to this principle, we will divide them (427 films in the EMOW) into A1, A2, B, C1, C2, D, E, F, total 8 types and enumerates some representative works to carry on the analysis research:

Type A1: Its original soundtracks to be composed by Ennio Morricone alone, the film's OST album or compilation all are belong to Ennio Morricone, there is no controversy. This type of films belong to the main part in the EMOW filmography. From "Il federale / The Fascist (Luciano Salce)" (1961) to "La Corrispondenza (Giuseppe Tornatore) / The Correspondence" (2015),most films in EMOW show this characteristic.

Example 1- 1961 "Il federale / The Fascist (Luciano Salce)" ?(TA6101 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000121)?Commento musicale" -- Italian is translated into English "Film score
"

SOUNDTRACK
Example 2 - "La Corrispondenza (Giuseppe Tornatore) / The Correspondence" (TA1501 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000418)
SOUNDTRACK
Type A2: The difference between type A2 and A1 is that the original soundtracks (which is specially written for a film music, its abbreviated as OST) in the film is not used, but used the pre-existing music that is not specifically for the film (no original), the pre-existing music include the used and unused music. This kind of film has appeared since 60s, 70s is gradually increased, but most of them are not included in the EMOW. The 1995 film "Con Rabbia e con amore (Alfredo Angeli)" (TA9501) to be earliest shown in the EMOW
Example 3 "Con rabbia e con amore (Alfredo Angeli)" (TA9501) This film has been on the EMOW for years
In IMDBshown the composer is Morricone,In CHIMAI shows that, its music all from Morricone's pre-existing music, example "IL DIAVOLO NEL CERVELLO" (TA7208), "GI?LA TESTA"" (TA7105), "NOVECENTO" (TA7605 ), and the film without any album or compilation, it can also prove that CHIMAI's instructions are accurate
Unfortunately, I haven't had the resources of the film so far. But this film has been included in EMOW, and it is a film without controversy. I'll add the screenshots of this film if I have got the film's resources
Example 4- 2009 "The Ear (Yi Zhou) ?(TA0902 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000544)
Yi Zhou official website
It was listed EMOW's filmography that "The Ear (Yi Zhou)" ,"The Greatness (Yi Zhou) and Labyrinth (Yi Zhou 2011)
This is a short film featuring 3D animations (07' 31"). Director by Yi Zhou, music by Ennio Morricone. The CHIMAI display is mainly pre-existing, reproduced or reused tracks, example "Le casse"(1971), "Chi l'ha vista morire?" (1972) and "Una pura formalita" (1994) etc. See screenshot below:
From above example 3 and 4, and following example 5 we can see an important change in EMOW,Whether it's OST, or Pre-existing , Reproduced,Reused tracks, all can be brought into the filmography in the EMOW. This is a big step forward, it will faithfully reflect and record the actual range of influence of Morricone's works and greatly expand the contents of the EMOW filmography, we support and welcome it
Example 5: Paolo Borsellino - I 57 giorni (Alberto Negrin) (TA1202 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000128)
It is includes in updated filmography of the EMOW
IMDB shows composed by Ennio Morricone
CHIMAI shows that, its music all from Morricone's pre-existing music, example "Mi ricordo Anna Frank" (TA0901), "Il cuore nel pozzo" (TA0501), "L'ultimo dei Corleonesi" (TA0702), "Gino Bartali L'intramontabile" (TA0601 )
*******************************************************************
Type B: The soundtracks was composed by Morricone independently, but it also cites a small amount of works belonging to other musicians. This situation, usually other musicians will be shown in the end credits of the film, and the information of the cited music can be found in the CHIMAI, SOUNDTRACK etc websites.
Example 6- "The Legend of 1900" ?(TA9804 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000421)
Other musicians was shown in the end credits of the film( End of the credits see below screenshot, located at 020254)
SOUNDTRACK
Example 7- ?"Malena" ?(TA0004, Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 014037)
Other musicians was shown in the end credits of the film( End of the credits see below screenshot, located at 014235)
CHIMAI
Example 8- "The Hateful Eight (Quentin Tarantino)" ?(TA1504, Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000341)
Other musicians was shown in the end credits of the film( End of the credits see below screenshot, located at 014235)
SOUNDTRACK The data shows that the other musicians' work accounts for one third, this high proportion is rare, this may be a special case of Quintin's film
***********************************************************

Type C1: Morricone and other musicians collaborated to compose,Morricone and co-operative musicians are listed together or listed separately as the main composer in the credits of the film. The proportion of works in Morricone or more or less, only one theme music at the fewest times. This type of works and the following type C2 works all belong to the cooperative works. Their basic definition is clear, but the specific situation of cooperation is more complex, so thus prone to disagreement and controversy. The missing works in EMOW main are this type, we will discuss these problem in the following third parts of this article£º

Example 9- "Le streghe" (TA6606 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000156)
Example 10- "Dirty Heroes" (Alberto de Martino) " TA6704 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000207)
Example 11- " Roma come Chicago" (TA6819 the credits see below screenshot, located at 013832)
Example 12- "Il virginiano / The Men from Shiloh - 'TV - (Burt Kennedy) ". This is a 249 episodes of series TV from United States for 10 years (1962-1971),the 225 episodes (1962-1970) theme music composed by Percy Faith;the 24 episodes (1970-1971) theme music composed by Ennio Morricone. (TA7008 the credits see below screenshot, located at 010720)
Example13- "Ci risiamo: vero provvidenza" ?(TA7301 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000334)
Example 14- "Le Ricain / The Man from Chicago ". This is a rather special film. First the theme music is not entirely based on Morricone's subjective will,It is Morricone's "existing music" what is obtained by way of personal relationships. And there also are one or two music that can not be sure to belong to Ennio Morricone. A lot of other works belong to other musicians, example Bruno Nicolai, Luis Bacalov etc. It also never released soundtrack albums or compilations. Ennio Morricone's name is clearly shown in the position of the main composer (theme music) in the title credits, only one background music author's name is shown below, other musicians are not shown. The film has been included in the filmograpy of EMOW (TA7604, the credits see below screenshot )
****************************************************************************
Type C2: It still belongs to the collaborated to compose, but Morricone is not the main composer, he still is an important composer (Example theme music, arrange, orchestration...) His name is listed below the main composer or shown in smaller fonts
Example 15- ?Agente 077: Missione Bloody Mary" (TA6502 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000055. Musical di A.F.LAVAGNINO...... Arrangiata e diretta da ENNIO MORRICONE)
SOUNDTRACK (Main theme)
CHIMAI £¨only main title£©
Example 16- "Il giro del mondo degli innamorati di Peynet (Cesare Perfetto)" (TA7404 See below 2 screenshots:: 000059 shown composer is Alessandro Alessandroni,000100 shown Il tema d'amore e scritto, arrangiato e diretto da ENNIO MORRICONE )
*************************************************************

Type D: Morricone did not appear as a composer but with other faces, example consultant, arranger, orchestration etc. but does not include him as director and music supervisor etc. Most of these films appear in cooperative film with Pasolini and a few other films. But not all of this type of films have been included in the filmography of the EMWO,. This is also the question to be discussed in Part 3 of this article.

Example 17- "Il fiore delle mille e una notte/Arabian Nights (Pier Paolo Pasolini) ? (TA7403 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000140. it shown "Musiche a cure di ENNIO MORRICONE" (cure - equivalent to treatment in English)

Example 18- " Divina creatura" (TA7503 See below screenshots, at 000156 " musiche C.A.BIXIO" , at 000159 " interpretate da Ennio Morricone". )
CHIMAI Ennio Morricone Arranger Conductor;
Example 19- "Salo le 120 giornate di Sodoma/ Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom" (Pier Paolo Pasolini) ?(TA7511 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000216. shown "Consulenza Musiche di ENNIO MORRICONE"£©
Example 20- "La Bibbia: Abramo / The Bible: Abraham" (TV Joseph Sargent) ?(TA9302 Title of the credits see below screenshot, located at 000134. Shown "Musikberatung" (German, equivalent to music consultant in English)
***********************************************
Type E: Advertising type Most of these are short films. According to CHIMAI' data (it was named Commercials) , it has at least 19 films (or TV) from 1984-2009). It's hard to find their resources. Only 1 films "Dolce & Gabbana: Profumo" (1995) of them in IMDB, and no composer's information
Only one 1990 film "Italiana petroli (Short film Giuseppe Tornatore) was listed in the EMOW

Fortunately, after much effort, we found it

Example 21- "Italiana petroli (Short film Giuseppe Tornatore)" ( TA9004) (See here NA9004B)?Its length only 30 seconds, and no credits(TA9004,see below screenshot, located at 000029)

But this short film still give us a lot of help: first,It is really short;Second,In such circumstances, it is difficult to incorporate the credits,we only have access to data based on relevant information, see following screenshot: (From here) The arrow indicates where the music comes from Morricone
*******************************************************
Type F: In the EMOW filmography, there are also some special cases, Ennio Morrricone's name was no shown in the film, but it still is listed the EMOW's filmography. Their situation is not exactly the same, the following are some representative examples:

Example 22-"Corri uomo corri (Sergio Sollima)" (TA6803)Bruno Nicolai was shown as composer, but it is generally accepted that its composer is Ennio Morricone,it is only due to business (contract) reasons, and Ennio Morricone himself made no objection to the matter. The following is its screenshot, location at 000231
The situation and the reasons are explained in detail in IMDB and CHIMAI
Example 23-" What dreams may come" (TA9906R) The composer of the film originally by Ennio Morricone, but for some reason midway substitution. Morricone's works were abandoned. So there is no Ennio Morricone in the cretics. The following is its screenshot, location at 000342
This change is recorded in IMDB or CHIMAI
This situation has a certain representation, similar to the situation at least seven films£¬but only 1964 "The Bible / Bible... In The Beginning (John Houston) " £¨TA6411£©was lsted in EMOW filmography£¬ not listed 6 films: £ºTB6003 Le Pillole di Ercole (Luciano Salce) £¬TB6904 La Femme ¨¦carlate ( Jean Val¨¨re)£¬TB9503 The Scarlet Letter (Roland Joff¨¦)£¬TB9602 La Lunga vita di Marianna Ucr¨¬a (Roberto Faenza)£¬TB0206 Il Diario di Matilde Manzoni ( Lino Capolicchio) / The Diary of Matilda Manzoni, TB0904 Nine (Rob Marshall) . If there is no special reason£¬the EMOW should make the correct revision
Example 24- ¡°Morte di una ragazza per bene-(TV Luigi Perelli) ¡±.£¨NA9906 or TB9901£©This is a controversial film, because in the film credits £¨whether it's in the title or at the end of the film£©do not see any information about Ennio Morricone, and in IMDB, CHIMAI is same. It is unknown why the film was listed in EMOW. The following is its 2 screenshots, first location at 000146 in the first part of the film (length 102'41"); second location at 014453 in the second part of the film (length104' 53")

Part 3: Missing films catalogue in EMOW

According to existing catalogue in EMOW and the film resources in my hand, by way of "Draw a tiger after the model of a tiger", Judge each film strictly,at least 26 films (type A-D) are missing ( will be 48 films if plus type E and F) . They should be added to EMOW's filmography.

Their main features are:

1. The name of Ennio Morricone individually or correspondingly is shown in the credits subtitle of the film as main composer or important composer
2. The completely similar of film can be found in the above type A1, A2, B, C1, C2, D, E, F
3. Related information can be found in the main websites(Example IMDB, CHIMAI, SOUNDTREACK and so on)

This is a special film, although the film subtitles shown together compose by Ennio Morricone and Gianni Ferrio, (See following screenshot, location at 000129 ) but it is a film what has solved the credits problem by legal means by Ennio Morricone. It has not yet been included in the EMOW filmography up to now. I really don't know what is the Maestro Morricone's attitude towards this? No matter what the inside story is, I think it should be included in the EMOW as soon as possible
